"Dr. Martin is a true servant leader who empowers the people who work for her. Her motivation and personal reward is to see the institution and the faculty and staff she leads excel, and not about building her own portfolio of accomplishments.
She loves students and cares deeply about their success and they love her in return. She is a savvy business woman who has excellent people skills and therefore excels at fundraising, board and government relations.
Mirta Martin has all the skills of a great president and only one fault which is she too often puts the institution ahead of her own wellbeing and works too hard."

"I worked with Mirta Martin very closely at Virginia State University, where she was Dean of the College of Business. She was the best person I ever worked for in my life. She is extremely creative in problem solving. She’s a very warm person, able to manage multiple things at the same time. She’s an excellent motivator and leader. She is student-focused. They responded to her extremely well, as did the alumni. She is phenomenal as a fund raiser.
One of Dr. Martin’s greatest assets is her successful business background. She has ten years of actual business experience and knows how to manage the money. She is extremely bright, and will no doubt accomplish great things wherever she is."
